It's been a while since I've sent out an email calling for sponsors and to be honest, I've been procrastinating this time 'round.
Over the Christmas break, I seriously contemplated cancelling the event this year altogether as I watched the chaos unravel in NSW, from the relative safety of my daughter's bush property in Queensland.
But when I returned to Newcastle, I took the opportunity to reflect on the year that was as I enjoyed an extra week off before I started work again. Just walking, swimming, banning any news in the house and well, trying not to catch the dreaded virus really as I have a wedding to officiate in a couple of weeks (hopefully).
I came out of that week of 'enforced' solitude with a renewed energy and of the mindset that the show must go on. It's such an inspiring day for so many and goodness knows, we all need something to look forward to.
As I sit here and write this on the one year anniversary of losing our beloved Meg, I've made a promise to myself that I will not stop living life to the fullest. Time is precious and we must seize every opportunity to nurture the relationships we have with our family and friends and to reach out and connect with those who need support in this really strange and exhausting time.
So... with that in mind, and with your support, it's business as usual with planning a joyous, COVID-safe, semi-outdoor event, with another stunning marquee situation like we had last year and raise much needed funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation. Of course we'll also be quaffing champagne, dressing up and hacking our way around Merewether Golf Course again, but that is par for the course (pardon the pun)!
We've got a few months to see if this pandemic actually decides to wear itself out, but you can be rest assured, I will do everything possible to make sure all the boxes are ticked in terms of making it safe for everyone.
So without further adieu.. I am NOW officially on the hunt for sponsors, to get this show on the road!
I'm after marquee sponsors again this year as the clubhouse is still under construction and would be happy for a combination of donations to cover the $11,000.00 or if there is an organisation out there that would like to foot the entire bill, there will definitely be some headline sponsorship rewards on offer!
With limited Gold sponsorships available (5 only) you'd best get moving and claim your hole pronto if you're thinking about it!
Silver sponsorships are unlimited, so plenty of those up for grabs.
I'm also looking for a champagne sponsor again this year so if you know any fabulous wineries that might like to donate champage for the lunch, I would LOVE to have a chat with them!
